114 years ago today the first chiropractic adjustment was given!! Here's the story
Chiropractic was first discovered in 1895 by D.D. Palmer. The first Chiropractic patient was a deaf man by the name of Harvey Lillard. Mr. Lillard, a janitor, had explained to D.D. Plamer that 17 years earlier, he had been in a stooped-over position picking something up, and heard a “pop” in his neck. Mr. Lillard could not even hear a horse carriage clattering down a cobblestone street.
Mr. Palmer, after palpating and finding a large “bump” (because one of his vertebra was misaligned), persuaded Mr. Lillard to allow him to “rack his bone back into position” now known as an adjustment. D.D. Palmer theorized that if he could put the bone back into place, Mr. Lillard’s hearing would return. After one adjustment and two days of rest, Mr. Lillard could again hear the ticking of a clock. D.D. Palmer had thought he had found the cure for deafness. What he had discovered was the miracle of unlocking the Vertebral Subluxation.
